A colleges endowment is intended to support current and future generations of their scholars with the resources needed to advance knowledge, research, and innovation. As such, endowment funds are used for the school’s normal operations and activities, including education, research, campus renewal, faculty work, and student financial aid. As a member of NACUBO (National Association of College and University Business Officers), Dr. Lowe discusses endowments, development and gifts policies with universities. “It’ important to understand the business side of higher education” – Dr. Paul Lowe. The National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) is a membership organization representing more than 1,700 colleges and universities across the country.

It is hard to believe that the 2021-2022 boarding school admissions season is just about here! Just 5 months ago our clients were receiving their acceptance notifications to schools like Exeter, Andover, Choate, Deerfield, Lawrenceville, Taft, Deerfield, Loomis, Hotchkiss and similar top schools.. We are receiving calls from parents who are inquiring about retaining the services of an educational consultant for direct admissions to the ninth grade or for reapplication (because their child was rejected or waitlisted last admissions cycle.  Many parents were quite surprised when their child was either outright rejected or placed on (perpetual) waitlists.

Many top boarding schools, including Exeter, are now writing parents to let them know that they remain fully enrolled for (2021-2022) and as such, will be unable to offer admission to any students from our waiting list.

It’s important to note that this admissions cycle (2021-2022) will be hypercompetitive (domestic applications are expected to be up by 20 percent). Why? Because more parents became aware of the benefits and multiple advantages of a boarding school education for their children. A published article in the New York Times, “The Boarding-School Boom” confirmed what we have been advising our clients who have been accepted to top boarding schools… there is now hyper-competition in boarding school admissions.  Additionally, because of the high rejection (and waitlists) last year, more students are reapplying for ninth grade as well as 10th grade spots.

Many parents who believed that their child would be off the waitlist had to have their children attend a public school for the 9th grade and reapply for the 9th or 10th grade. We advise parents to consider using a private educational consultant who can assess their child’s student profile, review last year’s application (to find mistakes), understand the changing nuances in admissions and who have long standing relationships with admissions professionals at schools.

It’s important that you will need to consider the admissions experts – Dr. Lowe and his team for successful admissions.
