Does it matter where you attend business school? Absolutely! Yes! Name brand B-schools will open doors, provide to you with opportunities for success and help you establish be a part of a global connection of business graduates.

Over the last 4 months, my team and I had the opportunity to tour and visit over 60 U.S. business schools. With tuition ranging from $51,000 (University of Texas at Austin) to ($75,000) Harvard. From these numbers, you obviously want the best return on investment. After all, why attend business school and not ultimately become one of the masters of industry?

What we discovered was that the Mean starting salary and bonus: This is the average starting salary and bonus of 2017 graduates of a full-time MBA program and the Employment rates for full-time MBA program graduates: This is the employment rate for 2017 graduates of a full-time MBA program were higher for the top schools.

What does this all mean: When you attend a top U.S. business school, it’s more likely that you will have the opportunity to be a part of a rarefied professional, entrepreneurial and alumni network and make more money!

It’s Getting Tougher to Get into BS/MD Programs

Is it getting tougher to get into BS/MD programs? Absolutely!

I’ve read on several websites that have stated “no”, “it’s not significantly different from prior years”, or “it’s easier to get into these programs”. Rather than assuming this or just writing a book about BS/MD programs we actually visit these programs. After our extensive research, review and visits, we have concluded it’s getting harder!

Why? Here are a couple of reasons: (1) More students are applying as a result of the Common App and easier access to apply. (2) It’s getting tougher to get into medical school so more students are attempting to enter the medical field through the BS/MD route, a trickle down effect. (3) More students sound exactly alike, so it’s so much easier for applicants to be rejected in bulk!

Since more students are applying and the number of spots remains unchanged, the rejection rates are higher. They range from 92% to 98%. We are even hearing about “perfect” applicants being rejected. The typical “perfect” applicant: High GPA, at least 10 AP courses, high SATs, musical, artistic and/or athletic extracurricular activities, research/clinical internships, shadowing doctors, helping the poor or starting an not-for-profit organization to help the poor.

Why are so many “perfect” applicants being rejected? It’s because they sound perfectly the same (contrived) on paper! Their parents are under the impression that their children are superstars. The fact is that they are all simply baseline in the BS/MD application process. Their applications lack color, rhythm, Wow-Factor, and personalized configuration.

Our offices usually receive calls or emails from parents who want their children to attend BS/MD programs. After they describe their children’s’ resumes, predictably naming all their achievements, they “sound” like perfect candidates. After we explain to them our fees, many never follow through (which actually places our clients at an advantage). When we do follow up a year later, we discover that these perfect candidates are not only rejected from BS/MD programs, but also Ivy League and highly selective colleges and universities. Our clients happily have the choice of whether to attend a BS/MD program or Ivy League and highly selective universities.

BS/MD Application Boot Camp 2018

Pinnacle Educational Center/Admissions Advisors Group (PECAAG) announces the launch of its 2018 BS/MD Application Boot Camp (BSMDABC). This is the 4th anniversary of BSMDABC. The 2-day comprehensive, intensive and informative application boot camps, held during the summer, are specifically for high school rising seniors (current juniors) who have decided to apply to BS/MD Programs. The camp is also specifically for international students who are seeking admissions to BS/MD programs. It is more difficult for an international student to be admitted to BS/MD programs than a US resident. Wait-listed at Top Boarding Schools (Repost)

Since the last week in March, my firm has been receiving continuous inquires (phone calls and emails) from stunned and stressed-out parents because their children are wait-listed! We have been receiving many inquiries from parents whose children have been wait-listed from ALL schools to which they applied.

The top U.S. boarding schools have the most competitive admissions process because they actually are stepping stones to the Ivy League colleges and universities. Therefore, their non-acceptance rates are high (even for high-achieving students).

WAIT-LISTED means that “we love your child, but we don’t have spot available today, tomorrow or perhaps never”. Two factors are important to consider:

SOMETHING WASN’T RIGHT in your child’s application process. Parents make a lot of mistakes on their child’s application.
In many cases, wait-listed may mean “perhaps never” or “forever”. Top schools rarely reject students outright. They would rather state – wait-listed rather than wait-listed perhaps never!

Many parents are mistakenly drawing from their skills as corporate executives, tiger moms, financiers, etc. rather than accepting the benefits of a consultant’s professional skills and years of experience in private admissions diplomacy and understanding real-time nuances and changes needed in private school admissions to top schools. Many parents also fail to fully appreciate and understand the human element of diplomacy in the selection process and decisions in private school admissions.

When parents call our firm to inquire about our services the first thing they ask is what is your price? Your fees?

It’s amazing that 95% of parents who are willing to spend $240,000 or more over 4 years on private high school education for their children waste time attempting to haggle fees for an exclusive advisory service that will guarantee that education! I have discovered that parents who are shopping for services based on price, have already made the decision to not invest in expert advice that will help their children. It’s Getting Tougher To Get Into Top Private Schools

This year, we have been receiving calls from devastated parents who had applied to top private schools and are now discovering that their children on the “forever” wait-list or rejected. There have been increased calls from U.S. as well as international parents.

We have received calls from families have received “forever” wait-listed and rejection letters from top boarding schools: Andover, Exeter, St. Paul’s, Lawrenceville, Deerfield, Choate, Loomis Chaffee, Hotchkiss, Taft, Kent to name a few. We also heard from parents who applied to the Westchester/Fairfield County schools: Rye County Day, Hackley, Greenwich Academy, Brunswick, Masters; the Manhattan elite schools: Dalton, Horace Mann, Trinity, Collegiate, Chapin, Brearley, Packer, Columbia and Riverdale.

So what’s causing the increased number of families on to be “forever” wait-listed or rejected from top private schools:

Parents whose children are in public schools are increasingly applying to private schools
Parents are finally realizing that top private high schools send the greatest percentage of students to the Ivies.
More parents are viewing the relationship between wealth and education.
More international families are applying to top boarding schools.
Parents continue to make mistakes on private school applications.

When parents call our offices, the first question we ask: Did you hire an educational consultant? The answer is usually “no”. The second question: Did you hire a consultant whose expertise and specialty is placing students into elite private schools? The answer is always “no”. Third question: Did you hire a consultant who visits elite private schools and understand the specific admissions policy of each school? The answer is always “no”.

I don’t have the time, the professional experience or expertise to figure out how to do my own taxes correctly, so I pay a top accounting firm for expert advice and counsel and to assist me in filling out and filing tax forms. I prefer to engage a specialist. I certainly don’t hire a math teacher or a plumber to do my taxes. To me, it’s a question of your priorities. It’s simply a choice whether to give your child a competitive advantage so that he/she will not be “forever” wait-listed or rejected.

This year, eight of our clients each received acceptances from Andover, Exeter and Choate. Three of our clients who applied to the ten schools were accepted to all ten. All of our international clients were accepted to their top choice boarding schools, including, Andover, Choate and Lawrenceville. We must be doing something right!

Top U.S. Engineering Universities

Over the last 2 months, my A-Team and I visited colleges with top engineering (undergraduate) programs. We were not disappointed! The quality of research in these colleges are excellent. Beyond research opportunities for students, the schools had extensive research funding and facilities and attracted professors that are at the top of their field. They also have curricula that included co-op/internships, externships and interdisciplinary programs.

These top schools have impressive job placement statistics. The schools reported job placement rates of students upon graduation (which means students have jobs before they graduate), within six months of graduation or within one year of graduation. The acceptance rate of undergraduates who applied to top Masters and PhD in engineering is significantly higher than the national average and is between 85% and 92%.

It’s Getting Tougher To Transfer To Top Colleges!

It’s the aftermath of the 2018 college admission season. We are now aware of the Ivy League and highly selective college rejection rates. The Ivy League colleges had a record number of applications and rejection percentages. The rejection rates ranged from Cornell’s 89.7% to Harvard’s 95.4%.

Because so many “perfect” students were rejected, this will cause a trickle-down effect to second-tier and third tier schools. In my firm, we are discovering that many families who are devastated by their children’s rejections are calling us regarding transfer. Here is what students and their parents NEED to know:

Transferring to the Ivies and elite colleges will be more difficult this year. We have discovered, through our current research, that many students who were accepted are already committing to attend these schools. Parents and students are aware of the value of an Ivy League degree.
There are fewer spots available for transfer students. Therefore, it’s even more competitive to transfer!
Transfer applications are not viewed in the same way as regular applications to freshman classes.
You may replicate the same mistakes that were on your Common Application.
Students are on their own during the transfer process: No college counseling support will be available from their current guidance counselors or private high school college advisors and there is no transfer help from the school which they will be attending in the fall. Why would a school that accepted a student assist the student to transfer?

As many concerned parents call us, stunned by the rejection decisions received by their children, we strongly advise parents that they need an experienced educational advisor to review their children’s Common Application because: something wasn’t right.
